RipStop Turnout Rugs – durability and protection in one
Choosing the right RipStop rug is a key step in ensuring the protection and comfort of your horse. Thanks to the unique structure of the RipStop fabric and the use of different deniers (DEN), our rugs combine durability, functionality, and style. In this article, you will learn why RipStop rugs are indispensable and how to choose the model best suited to your horse's needs.RipStop – technology that makes a difference
RipStop is a material with a grid-reinforced structure that prevents the fabric from tearing. This makes RipStop rugs exceptionally durable, even if the surface is damaged.Ripstop technology is a weaving method where stronger, thicker fibers are placed at regular intervals to create a mesh pattern. In the event of damage, only a small fragment of the material tears, which prevents further destruction. This technology, originally created for the military, has also found its place in horse rugs – guaranteeing long-lasting durability and resistance.
Benefits of RipStop material
- Increased resistance to abrasions and tears,
- Lightweight yet durable – perfect for every season,
- Longer lifespan, which means lower operating costs.
Deniers (DEN) – what are they and why do they matter?
Deniers (DEN) are a measure of fiber thickness in the fabric. A higher DEN number means a thicker and more resistant material. Here is how to choose a rug based on the denier count:
- 600 DEN – light protection, perfect for stable use or for horses that are not prone to catching their rugs,
- 1200 DEN – a durable and versatile option, recommended for pastures,
- 1680 DEN – the most resistant to harsh weather conditions and intensive use.
