Waterproof rugs. What does a water column mean?

When choosing a turnout or rain rug, pay attention not only to the weight but also to the waterproof rating, expressed as water column (mm). It indicates how much water pressure the material can withstand before it begins to leak. The higher the value, the greater the fabric's resistance to water penetration. This parameter is particularly important for rugs intended for turnout and rainy weather.

Which rug weight to choose?

A 50g or 100g rug provides a light layer of warmth, while 150g and 200g rugs offer greater insulation for cooler days. 250g and 300g rugs are designed for conditions requiring stronger thermal insulation. The choice of weight should always take into account the temperature, stabling method, condition, age, clipping, and the horse's individual thermoregulation.
